Jesse Vain

Jesse grew up in the deli business. His dad ran a beloved sandwich shop in Memphis, Tennessee, where Jesse spent his childhood behind the counter learning what makes a sandwich worth waiting in line for. He carried that into his years in New York City, soaking up the flavors, the hustle, and the community that only a corner deli can build.

Now Jesse is bringing that legacy to Austin, blending his family roots with everything he learned in New York City into a sandwich shop he and Ant built together.

Anthony “Ant” Capanna

You might know Ant from Ants Beer Cave , right here in South Austin. When Ant approached Jesse about opening a sandwich shop together, it just made sense. Jesse loves sandwiches the way Ant loves beer, and they share the same hungry but humble attitude. Both believe good food and good times start with good people who care about what they do.

The Sandwich Underground is their way of giving the neighborhood a really good sandwich to go with a cold beer.
